Jobbeschreibung

SEN Maths Teacher - King's Lynn, Norfolk (PE32)

Hours: Full-time or part-time, 2 to 5 days a week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temp to perm

An independent SEMH school near Fakenham in west Norfolk needs a Maths Teacher for its KS3 and KS4 classes, on anywhere from 2 to 5 days a week. Students are secondary age and have social, emotional and mental health needs. Many have missed chunks of schooling and feel unsure of themselves in Maths, so a lot of your time goes on going back over number, fractions and measures, and tying them to money, time and measurement in everyday life. Groups are small, and you'll also teach some students one-to-one.

The Setting

A small, independent secondary school for students with SEMH needs, run by an established Norfolk education group. Each class has support staff alongside the teacher, and routines and expectations are kept calm and consistent across the school.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Finding out where each student is in Maths and planning work to fill the gaps in number, fractions, measures and data
  • Teaching Maths across KS3 and KS4 in small groups and one-to-one
  • Working towards GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Maths or Entry Level qualifications with students who are ready for them
  • Using practical, everyday examples so each topic feels relevant and manageable
  • Planning with teaching assistants and the pastoral team around each student's needs
  • Recording progress and updating the class team and senior leaders
What We're Looking For
  • Experience teaching Maths to secondary-age students
  • Confidence teaching everything from basic numeracy through to GCSE
  • An understanding of how to adapt lessons for students with additional needs (SEN or SEMH experience welcome but not essential)
  • Availability for 2 to 5 days a week
  • QTS welcome but not essential - unqualified teachers and Maths tutors with relevant experience will also be considered

You'll be patient and encouraging, and happy to explain a method several different ways until it makes sense to the student.
