Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment has a PSHE and RSE Teacher vacancy at a small independent school in the Fakenham area of Norfolk, for secondary-age students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

You'll plan and deliver PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education to small classes, each supported by teaching assistants, with lessons on wellbeing, relationships, staying safe online, managing money and preparing for adult life.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching PSHE, RSE or Citizenship at secondary level.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics with tact and care.
• Experience adapting teaching for students with additional needs.
• Availability for 2 to 5 days a week.
• QTS welcome but not essential; other relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach PSHE and RSE to small KS3 and KS4 groups.
• Lead lessons on wellbeing, online safety, money management and careers.
• Maintain a calm, respectful classroom for sensitive topics.
• Tailor resources to students' needs and life experiences.

Luma Education Recruitment has a PSHE and RSE Teacher vacancy at a small independent school in the Fakenham area of Norfolk, for secondary-age students with social, emotional and mental health needs. You'll plan and deliver PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education to small classes, each supported by teaching assistants, with lessons on wellbeing, relationships, staying safe online, managing money and preparing for adult life. Anywhere from 2 to 5 days a week is available, Monday to Friday, at £170 – £230 per day, on a temp to perm basis.

About the Setting

An independent school for secondary-age students with SEMH needs, belonging to a well-established Norfolk education group. Every class is small and has support staff, and the school takes a relationship-led approach, giving students' personal and social development a central place in the curriculum.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan and teach PSHE and RSE to small KS3 and KS4 groups


• Lead lessons on emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, online safety, money management and careers


• Keep the classroom calm and respectful so students are comfortable discussing sensitive subjects


• Tailor resources to students' individual needs, maturity and life experiences


• Share any concerns promptly with the pastoral and safeguarding team and work closely with them


• Help students work towards relevant qualifications or awards where appropriate

What You'll Need

• Experience teaching PSHE, RSE or Citizenship at secondary level


• Confidence and tact when handling sensitive topics


• Knowledge of how to adapt teaching for students with additional needs; SEN or SEMH experience is welcome but not essential


• Availability for 2 to 5 days a week


• QTS welcome but not essential: unqualified teachers and people with relevant experience, such as mentors or youth workers, will also be considered
