Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a passionate Key Stage 3 SEN Humanities Teacher for a specialist provision in Ealing. The role focuses on delivering differentiated KS3 Humanities (History/Geography/RE) to students with SEND, supporting both academic progress and personal development in a structured setting.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. You will collaborate with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and therapists, develop ILPs aligned with EHCP targets and monitor progress while

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching KS3 Humanities, ideally in SEN or inclusive settings.
  • Strong SEND knowledge and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication, planning and assessment skills.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated KS3 Humanities lessons (History, Geography, RE) for students with SEND.
  • Support learners with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, and speech/language difficulties.
  • Adapt curriculum content and resources to ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Develop and implement ILPs aligned with EHCP targets.
  • Create a positive, structured, supportive classroom environment.
  • Monitor, assess and record progress; provide feedback to staff and parents.
  • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and critical thinking.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality and inclusion.

Job description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 3 SEN Humanities Teacher to join a specialist provision in Ealing. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, differentiated Humanities lessons to Key Stage 3 students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting both academic progress and personal development in a structured and inclusive learning environment.

Key Stage 3 SEN Humanities Teacher- Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver differentiated KS3 Humanities lessons (History, Geography, RE and/or related subjects) tailored to students with SEND.
  • Support learners with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Adapt curriculum content, resources, and teaching strategies to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students.
  • Develop and implement individual learning plans aligned with EHCP targets.
  • Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement and curiosity.
  • Monitor, assess, and record student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents/carers.
  • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support emotional regulation and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Encourage student independence, confidence, and critical thinking skills.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, and inclusion at all times.
Key Stage 3 SEN Humanities Teacher- Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Humanities at KS3 level, ideally within SEN, alternative provision, or inclusive settings.
  • Strong understanding of SEND and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication, planning, and assessment skills.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Key Stage 3 SEN Humanities Teacher- Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience working in specialist SEN provisions or PRUs.
  • SEN qualifications or additional SEND training.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Training in trauma-informed practice, Team Teach, PECS, or Makaton.
