Job summary

Courtlands Special School Academy in Crownhill, Plymouth, invites an enthusiastic HLTA or aspiring teacher to join our team. The role includes PPA cover, absence cover, and a blend of classroom, individual and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.

The successful candidate should hold a HLTA qualification or above and GCSEs in English and Maths, be able to personalise learning, work independently, and apply effective learning and behaviour strategies in a trauma-informed setting.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or above required.
• GCSEs in English and Maths at a good level.
• Ability to personalise learning to meet each child’s needs.
• Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
• Positive and nurturing approach.
• Knowledge of learning and behaviour strategies.
• Experience in a special education setting.

Responsibilities

• Mixture of classroom-based, individual and small group support.
• Cover PPA and absence when required.
• Work as part of a supportive team to meet pupil needs.
