Job summary

Step Into Teaching is recruiting a SEN Graduate Academic Coach in Boston, Lincolnshire, for September 2026 to July 2027. The role is full-time, term-time only, delivering classroom support and 1:1 and small-group interventions to pupils with diverse needs to help them thrive.

Ideal for graduates aiming to gain classroom experience before teacher training; you'll work with pupils from various backgrounds, including EAL and SEMH, under supportive supervision.

Qualifications

  • A degree (2:2 or above) or predicted to graduate in 2026.
  • Strong written and spoken English; GCSE English and Maths grade C/4+.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and emotional development.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Commitment to the role for the full academic year (until July 2027).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
  • Deliver small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Support children with communication and language needs, and those requiring help with self-regulation and routines.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
  • Work with pupils who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) — over 70% of pupils speak more than one language.
  • Support children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, demonstrating patience, empathy, and consistency.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and contribute to a calm, supportive classroom atmosphere.
