Job summary

Samuel Laycock School in Ashton Under Lyne is seeking a Cover Teacher SEN to deliver high-quality teaching across the school, supporting pupils with SEND and complex needs. The role includes planning, assessment, monitoring progress and contributing to curriculum delivery.

The successful candidate will work across Aspire, Sensory and Communication routes and KS4 pathways, with sessions across a range of abilities. SEND experience and a commitment to inclusive practice are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience planning, delivering and assessing learning across a broad curriculum
• Strong experience with pupils with SEND, autism and complex needs
• Ability to raise standards and monitor pupil progress
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching across classes, pathways and curriculum areas
• Plan, prepare and assess learning in line with school expectations
• Support delivery of core subjects (English, Maths, Science, PSHE, Living Skills, Careers)
• Adapt teaching to meet individual needs of pupils with SEND
• Use data to monitor progress and inform planning
• Create positive learning environments that promote engagement and wellbeing
• Collaborate with staff to ensure continuity of learning across the school
• Support learners across specialist pathways where communication and sensory needs are central
