Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a patient Classroom Support Assistant to work across Romford and Waltham Forest specialist SEN schools. You will support pupils with PMLD and complex needs, focusing on communication, sensory development and personalised learning in a caring environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, personal care where needed, and adherence to EHCPs and health protocols. A DBS check is essential, and prior experience in SEN settings is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong experience supporting children with PMLD or complex SEN.
• Experience within a specialist school, SEN provision, care, healthcare or residential setting.
• Understanding of sensory needs, communication difficulties and personalised learning.
• Confidence supporting pupils with physical, medical or personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
• Support communication, sensory development, cognition and independence.
• Deliver sensory, play-based and personalised learning activities.
• Support pupils with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex health needs.
• Assist with personal care, feeding and mobility where required.
• Follow EHCPs, learning plans, care plans and health protocols.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals.
• Monitor pupil engagement, development and progress.
• Help create a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment.
