Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Hackney, East London. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils aged 4-19 with complex needs to develop communication, independence and social skills.

The role focuses on sensory learning, personal care support where needed, and collaboration with teachers, therapists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure each pupil achieves their potential. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Previous experience within a school, care, healthcare or support setting.
• A good understanding of autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.
• Confidence supporting pupils who may require personal care.
• A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
• No teaching qualification required if you have experience working with children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
• Support communication, social development and independence.
• Deliver engaging sensory and personalised learning activities.
• Assist pupils with physical disabilities, sensory needs and mobility requirements.
• Support personal care, feeding and medical routines where required.
• Follow EHCPs, learning plans and care plans.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and specialist professionals.
• Monitor pupil engagement, wellbeing and progress.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
