Job summary

Polaris Education is seeking a SEN Class Teacher for Andover School in Hampshire. The role offers a basic salary of £28,000 to £39,520, 37.5 hours per week, full-time term-time only, and a supportive benefits package.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver lessons under the national curriculum, addressing SEMH needs, and work with the team to promote positive behaviour and progress. DBS check will be required and funded by Polaris.

Qualifications

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
• Strong basic education to degree level.
• Previous successful teaching experience.
• Some experience with SEMH in education.
• Experience of behaviour management techniques.
• Committed to professional development.
• Willing to undergo enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high quality lessons within the national curriculum while meeting SEMH needs.
• Support the class team in facilitating learning and promoting positive behaviours.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-class time including activities and trips.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to drive learning outcomes.

Role responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
• Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
• Have a strong basic education to degree level
• Previous successful teaching experience
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
• Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
