Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for a SEN Care Worker to join a SEN School in Newark on a long-term basis starting in September. The role is temporary and focused on supporting pupils with additional needs in a nurturing school environment.

Ideal candidates will have experience in care, support work, SEN or education, with a patient and compassionate approach. You will work with teachers, therapists and support staff to provide consistent, dignified care and promote independence.

We're currently recruiting for an SEN Care Worker to join an SEN School in Newarkon a long-term basis starting in September. This role is temporary.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in care, support work, SEN or education who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with additional needs.

You'll be joining a supportive and inclusive school where care, wellbeing and individual needs are at the heart of everything they do. The role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, patient and confident supporting pupils with their personal care and day-to-day needs.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Providing personal care and intimate care to pupils in line with their individual needs, care plans and school policies.
  • Supporting pupils with toileting, changing, dressing, hygiene and other personal care routines where required.
  • Helping pupils with their day-to-day wellbeing and independence, encouraging them to develop appropriate life skills wherever possible.
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including those who may have complex physical, communication or sensory needs.
  • Providing a calm, reassuring and nurturing presence throughout the school day.
  • Supporting pupils during mealtimes, breaks, transitions and other daily routines.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and individualised care.
  • Following individual care plans, risk assessments, EHCP-related support strategies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Promoting dignity, respect, choice and independence in everything you do.
  • Supporting pupils who may become emotionally dysregulated, using a calm and compassionate approach to help them feel safe and settled.
Requirements or Skills:
  • Previous experience working in a care, support, SEN, education or healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, disabilities or complex needs would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable and confident providing personal and intimate care when required.
  • A patient, empathetic and compassionate approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional when supporting pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviour.
  • A commitment to maintaining the dignity, privacy and independence of every pupil.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary school team.
  • Reliable, resilient and willing to learn about each pupil's individual needs and support requirements.
