Job summary

Milk Education is a recruitment partner dedicated to educators, offering training, development, and ongoing support. We are recruiting Special Needs Assistants to support SEN schools across Surrey and South West London, with roles from September.

You will assist pupils with a range of needs, build relationships, and collaborate with teachers and therapists to provide inclusive learning experiences throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, care, youth work, sports coaching, nurseries, or similar settings is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using your own initiative.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care, psychology, or related subjects are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Assisting children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and independence.
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils throughout the school day.
  • Adapting learning activities and resources to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
