Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with Autism and emotional regulation needs at a welcoming junior school in Barnet. The role requires calm, patient support, building trust, and using positive strategies to maintain engagement and progress.

Qualifications

• Previous SEN Teaching Assistant experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD).
• Understanding of emotional regulation and de‑escalation strategies.
• Confident supporting pupils within KS2.
• Calm, resilient and able to respond sensitively to challenging situations.
• Able to establish clear boundaries without becoming confrontational.
• Patient, proactive and committed to building a positive relationship.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support within Year 4
• Support Autism (ASD) and emotional regulation needs
• Build a trusting relationship through patience and consistency
• Use calm, positive strategies during periods of dysregulation
