Job summary

Sense Education seeks a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a large SEND school in Kendal. The role is full-time or temp–perm, starting ASAP, supporting a pupil with SEN on a 1:1 basis and assisting classroom staff.

You will provide individual and small-group support, foster confidence, and help with organisation, study techniques and goal setting while promoting safeguarding and inclusive learning. DBS required or update service.

Qualifications

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
• Experience supporting children with SEND
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with students

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional help
• Offer emotional and pastoral support to improve confidence and self-esteem
• Help students with organisational skills, study techniques, and goal setting
• Support students with specific learning needs, including SEN
• Foster a positive and inclusive school culture
• Work closely with teachers and parents to track progress
• Contribute to strategies to enhance learning and well-being
