Job summary

Pocknells LLP in Essex is seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to join our growing team. Based in Maldon, this role involves delivering exceptional accounting services to clients, including forward forecasting and reports as part of a proactive advisory approach.

You will prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, personal tax, assist with bookkeeping, management accounts, client reports, and liaise with HMRC as needed.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified (or equivalent experience)
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and tax basics
• Experience with TaxCalc and Xero is desirable

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts and corporation tax returns
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with VAT queries
• Prepare personal tax returns
• Assist with bookkeeping and review basic bookkeeping work
• Support the preparation of management accounts and client reports
• Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
• Liaise with HMRC when required
• Assist with audits and tax planning assignments
• Ensure work is accurate and meets regulatory requirements

Due to the entrepreneurial clients that we work with, we often find our work involves forward forecasting and reports and therefore not just a compliant service mindset would be important.

What we're looking for:

• AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified (or equivalent experience)
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice
• Good understanding of accounts preparation and tax basics
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Experience with TaxCalc and Xero (desirable)
• Exposure to a range of clients and industries (desirable)
