Job summary

Insite Public Practice Recruitment Limited is assisting with a Semi Senior Accountant role in Hitchin. You will work across SME and owner-managed clients, gaining exposure to accounts, tax and day-to-day client work while developing toward advisory responsibilities.

The position emphasizes mentoring junior colleagues, developing commercial relationships, and using cloud tools like Xero; a supportive, growth-focused culture with CPD and progression opportunities awaits.

Qualifications

• Several years of UK practice experience preferred.
• Studying towards AAT, ACCA or ACA is desirable.
• Willingness to develop commercial and advisory skills and speak with clients.

Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns.
• Assisting with management accounts and VAT returns.
• Managing bookkeeping and accounting records for a portfolio of clients.
• Liaising directly with clients and responding to queries.
• Developing an understanding of clients’ businesses and objectives.
• Supporting senior colleagues with advisory and project-based work.
• Identifying opportunities to provide clients with additional support and advice.
• Reviewing work and guiding junior team members.
• Acting as a mentor to trainees and juniors.
• Working with Xero and related cloud applications.
• Supporting the wider team with process improvements.
