Coats Recruitment is assisting a specialist accountancy practice in Droitwich to recruit a Semi-Senior Accountant. You will prepare accounts for a varied client base and support tax compliance, liaising with clients and senior staff to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
• Prepare and review VAT returns, Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Review bookkeeping, journal entries, accruals and prepayments.
• Produce monthly and annual financial information for clients.
• Respond to client queries and advise on routine accounting matters.
• Ensure work is completed accurately within deadlines.
• Support senior staff and mentor junior colleagues.

The Role

As a Semi-Senior Accountant, you will work with a varied portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, supporting tax compliance and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date. You will liaise directly with clients and work closely with senior colleagues to deliver a reliable, professional service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records, working papers and supporting documentation.
• Reviewing bookkeeping and processing journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Producing monthly and annual financial information for clients.
• Responding to client queries and advising on routine accounting and taxation matters.
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Supporting senior colleagues and providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.

About You

We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in accountancy practice who can manage their workload effectively, communicate confidently with clients and maintain high standards of accuracy.

Essential requirements:

• A minimum AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• At least two years' experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
• A good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and general taxation.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• A professional approach, with the confidence to manage client relationships and work independently.
• Experience using Xero and supporting or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous.
