Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a Full-Time Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH and trauma-related needs at a Bodmin specialist school. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, paying £94–£100 per day, with a view to permanent for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
• Knowledge of SEMH and/or trauma-informed approaches is desirable.
• Patience, resilience and confident managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain calm and consistent in difficult situations.
• Nurturing approach with clear boundaries.
• Driver required due to site location.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs and trauma-related behaviours.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support inside and outside the classroom.
• Help students regulate emotions and develop coping strategies.
• Build trusting, consistent relationships with young people.
• Support learning, engagement and personal development.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral team.
• Maintain clear boundaries with a nurturing approach.
• Contribute to a calm, safe learning environment.
