Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision in Bodmin starting September 2026. This full-time, long-term contract offers the opportunity to work outside a traditional mainstream setting, delivering tailored support to students with SEMH needs.

The role focuses on individualised support, broad curriculum access, trauma-informed behaviour management, and off-site learning activities.

Qualifications

• SEMH experience with experience supporting children or youth with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to transport students or access off-site provisions.
• Commitment to a long-term, full-time schedule starting September 2026.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain a new one through Randstad).

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support tailored to students' goals and emotional needs.
• Help students access a broad curriculum through engaging, practical methods.
• De-escalate challenging situations using empathy, patience, and a trauma-informed approach.
• Support community and off-site learning journeys, including transport when applicable.
