GSL Education are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Stockport, starting in September 2025. This Ofsted-rated 'Good' school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
In this role, you will work on a one-to-one basis with a pupil in Upper Key Stage 2 who requires additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, building confidence, and ensuring the pupil is fully engaged with their learning.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff, gain valuable classroom experience, and make a meaningful difference to a young person's educational journey.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Communicate clearly and effectively with teachers, pupils, and parents/carers
Create a positive and supportive learning environment
Show patience, understanding, and a nurturing approach
Be resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
Support activities both inside and outside of the classroom
Ideally have experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school setting
To work with GSL Education as a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you must:
Have the right to work in the UK
Hold an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years
Have a DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education
Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants will be subject to relevant background checks, including an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
