Job summary

Academics is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant in Reading to support students 1:1 and in small groups, helping with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement, and building trusting relationships within a secondary SEMH setting.

This role is ideal for psychology graduates aiming to pursue careers in psychology, education, therapy or mental health. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a full-time contract; pay is £93-£110 per day, and the start date is ASAP.

Qualifications

• Psychology graduate seeking experience in SEMH settings.
• Ability to support 1:1 and small groups.
• Good interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students.
• Support students with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe environment.
• Monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour and progress.
