Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant with a sports background to work full-time on an agency basis in Preston.

The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs through confidence-building activities and restorative approaches inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will have experience with children or young people, a resilient attitude, strong communication, and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, care, or sports coaching.
• A positive, patient, and resilient attitude.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support behaviour management using positive and restorative approaches.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encourage confidence, participation, and personal development through engaging activities.
• Support pupils both in and out of the classroom.
• Work alongside teachers and support staff to promote learning and wellbeing.
