Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant with a sports background to work full-time on a agency basis in Preston. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, use restorative approaches for behaviour, and help with learning and wellbeing across class and non-class settings.

The role focuses on building relationships, promoting participation, and personal development through engaging activities, working alongside teachers and support staff in a specialist SEMH setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, care, or sports coaching.
• Positive, patient and resilient attitude.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support behaviour management using positive and restorative approaches.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encourage confidence, participation and personal development through engaging activities.
• Support pupils both in and out of the classroom.
• Work alongside teachers and support staff to promote learning and wellbeing.
