Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is seeking a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant for a SEND specialist school in Oakham. The role starts in November 2026; driving is essential due to the rural location.

You will support children during lessons and activities, assist staff, and help implement personalised learning plans for pupils with diverse SEND and mental health needs. Training and ongoing CPD are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school setting and with SEND pupils is favourable.
• Be highly organised with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to supply two teaching references if possible.

Responsibilities

• Support children during lessons and school activities.
• Support staff and children during lunch and breaks.
• Assist with personalised learning plans and daily care routines.
• Deliver 1:1 or small group activities and collect evidence of progress.
