Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH in a Surrey-based specialist school. You will provide 1:1 and small-group assistance, helping learners engage with lessons and regulate emotions in a safe setting.

The role requires experience with SEMH/SEND, strong behaviour management, and a calm, patient approach. An Enhanced DBS is preferred, with training and ongoing CPD opportunities offered by TeacherActive.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Experience delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and vulnerable young people needs.
• DBS check via Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
