Job summary

PK Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Newcastle area from September.

This role supports pupils with SEMH needs, helping with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement, in a safe and inclusive learning environment.

You will work alongside teachers and support staff to implement strategies and build positive relationships with children.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, youth work, or support setting.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis within the primary classroom
• Helping children develop emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviours
• Building strong, positive relationships with children
• Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities
• Working alongside teachers and support staff to implement individual strategies
• Providing a calm and consistent approach to behaviour management
