Job summary

Academics in the UK is seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a range of schools in the Runcorn area. You will support children with mental health challenges to learn and develop, aiding academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Ideal candidates have psychology or counselling-related degrees, prior SEN classroom experience, and a TA qualification. Flexible part-time and full-time vacancies are available, with safeguarding checks required and salary in line with the client's pay

Qualifications

• Based in Runcorn or surrounding areas.
• Solid knowledge of mental health in children.
• Experience in a classroom setting.
• Knowledge of behaviour management.
• Passionate about children's wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Supporting vulnerable children with their academic, social and emotional development.
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure children are supported both inside and outside the classroom.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Helping students recognise and manage their emotions and developing coping strategies.
• Providing behaviour management, such as de-escalating situations when students become overwhelmed.
• Following school safeguarding procedures.
