Job summary

Randstad UK is assisting a specialist SEN school near Wilburton, Cambridgeshire, in recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to support pupils with SEMH, ASC, and ADHD, focusing on building emotional resilience in a nurturing setting.

The role involves 1:1 and group support, trauma-informed approaches, and ongoing collaboration with school staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH and neurodivergent needs in educational or youth settings.
• Level 2/3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Patience, emotional resilience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS check (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 and small-group engagement using trauma-informed, nurture-based approaches.
• Support emotional and behavioural regulation with de-escalation techniques.
• Assist in delivering EHCP-targeted learning interventions.
• Model positive social skills and resilience as a reliable mentor.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external therapists to monitor progress.
• Maintain clear records of pupil behaviour and daily achievements.
