Long Term Futures is proud to be working with a progressive and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) operating across several campuses in Central Birmingham. This setting supports around 440 students, all referred by the Local Authority, many of whom have experienced exclusion, trauma, or disrupted education.

These pupils may be:

  • On an EHCP for SEMH or behavioural needs

  • Living with anxiety, depression, or trauma

  • In care and currently without a school placement

  • Involved in the youth justice system

  • Facing significant learning and life challenges

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key part in helping students not only re-engage with learning but also build emotional strength, self-confidence, and positive behaviour strategies. This is a role for someone who is calm, adaptable, and genuinely committed to helping young people succeed.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting students inside and outside the classroom in both learning and personal development

  • Assisting with individualised learning activities

  • Using positive behaviour support strategies to help students regulate and refocus

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Helping pupils develop life skills, self-esteem, and independence

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience in PRUs, SEMH settings, or alternative provision is highly desirable

  • Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs

  • Able to build trusting, professional relationships with vulnerable learners

  • Resilient, patient, and collaborative team player

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is a bonus-but we value experience and attitude above all

Why Work with Long Term Futures?

  • A supportive team that recognises your contribution

  • Access to specialist roles in alternative education settings

  • Regular training and CPD opportunities

  • Competitive PAYE pay structure

  • Most importantly, the chance to make a meaningful difference in young lives
