Job summary

Cover People is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and Autism in a secondary school setting in Salford. The role involves helping students access education in a nurturing, structured environment and collaborating with teaching staff, families and external professionals to support individual learning and wellbeing plans.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH/SEND, a calm, patient and resilient approach, strong communication and behaviour

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
A calm, patient and resilient approach.
Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Support students with SEMH and Autism both in and out of the classroom.
Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and progress.
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities.
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using restorative approaches.
Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Work closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals to support individual learning and wellbeing plans.
