Job summary

You will work with teachers to deliver accessible activities, implement behaviour strategies, and help pupils develop confidence, emotional resilience, and positive learning behaviours while adhering to safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs
  • Understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Patience, resilience, and a calm, supportive approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils
  • Adaptable across different classrooms and key stages
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • Willingness to undertake additional training, including SEMH or behaviour-related programmes

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering adapted and accessible learning activities
  • Help implement behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
  • Promote positive relationships and model constructive communication
  • Support pupils in managing challenging behaviours in line with school policies
  • Encourage engagement, participation, and independence
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate with teaching staff
  • Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
