Job summary

Beckfoot Upper Heaton, part of Beckfoot Trust, is recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs at Beckfoot Upper Heaton in Bradford. The role focuses on building relationships, promoting emotional regulation and helping students engage with learning.

You will work with SEND and pastoral teams to provide personalised learning, behaviour support and progress reviews in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
• Calm, empathetic and patient approach.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly.
• Resilience and flexibility; safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs
• Building strong, trusting relationships that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Supporting teachers in delivering personalised learning and targeted interventions
• Assisting with behaviour support plans and contributing to student reviews
• Working closely with pastoral, SEND and safeguarding teams
• Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive environment across the school
