Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant in Bristol to support pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement strategies that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

The role offers a full-time timetable starting in September, with opportunities across Primary, Secondary and SEND settings, and access to free CPD and dedicated consultant support throughout the placement.

Qualifications

Experience with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (school or alternative settings).
Calm and patient, even in high-pressure situations.
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
Resilience, empathy, and genuine passion for supporting young people.

Responsibilities

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and around the school.
Building positive relationships that help children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Using positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to help every pupil succeed.
Celebrating the small wins, because they often become the biggest breakthroughs.
