Job summary

Aspire People in Leicester are recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs at a local school. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils manage emotions and engage with learning in a calm, positive way.

You will work with teachers and pastoral staff, use de-escalation techniques, and contribute to safeguarding. The position offers a competitive rate of £105 per day, Monday to Friday, term time only, with

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is essential.
• Experience supporting SEMH, behaviour or additional needs.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Help pupils manage emotions, anxiety and challenging situations
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Support classroom learning and encourage engagement
• Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support individual needs
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
