SEMH Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant Are you passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? Axcis Education is partnering with an alternative provision in South Hams that is dedicated to nurturing pupils' confidence, independence, and self-esteem. The school creates a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take an active role in their learning, helping to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences they’ll encounter in adult life. The role: • Support students with SEMH needs to access and engage in learning • Encourage a calm, positive and safe learning environment • Assist with behaviour management using trauma-informed strategies • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised support plans • Facilitate classroom activities while prioritising student wellbeing The candidate: • A genuine enthusiasm for helping young individuals succeed • Outstanding interpersonal skills – you can build trust and strong connections • Adaptability and proactivity – ready for anything, every day • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with calm, clarity, and empathy • Resilience and composure in ever-changing, high-pressure scenarios • Prior experience in a teaching assistant role or working with children with ASC, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. • An understanding of safeguarding children and a commitment to their safety and wellbeing Why this role matters: You’ll be more than a Teaching Assistant – you’ll be a key influence in a young person’s journey.
