Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant in Selly Oak, supporting pupils with SEMH across mixed ages. Immediate start and flexible day-to-day and long-term opportunities with PAYE pay.

You will work closely with teachers to provide classroom and individual support, helping pupils engage with learning and develop confidence. Experience with SEND and SEMH, calm in challenging situations, strong communication and adaptability are essential.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Selly Oak

Start Date: Immediate Start

Salary: £95 - £115 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a SEND setting in Selly Oak supporting pupils of mixed ages with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. The setting provides a supportive and structured environment where pupils are encouraged to engage positively with learning and develop their confidence and independence.

The setting is looking to appoint SEN Teaching Assistants for day-to-day and long-term opportunities, with an immediate start. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils across different age groups, provide classroom and individual support and adapt their approach to meet a range of SEMH needs.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
• Confidence working across different age groups
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
