Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a small specialist setting in Preston for a long-term, non-teaching cover role. The position runs from November 2026 to July 2027, with a full-time schedule from 8:30am to 4pm.

The successful candidate will support learners aged 11–18 who engage with tailored education. A recent graduate or TA with safeguarding training is preferred, and Right to Work in the UK is required.

FULL TIME, UNTIL JULY 2027 – STARTING IMMEDIATELY

We are working with a small, specialist setting in Preston (PR2) who are looking to add several teaching assistants to their small yet highly supportive team.

Our school provides a tailored education to young people aged between 11 and 18, who find accessing mainstream education challenging – there will be a high focus on building professional, respectful and meaningful relationships with young people who need consistency and focus in their education.

Despite being a small setting, our Headteacher prides themselves on offering an inclusive learning environment where young people can thrive.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• – Recent Graduate, with a 2:2 or higher, OR Experience as a TA in a similar setting, OR experience working with young people in a vocational/coaching capacity
• – Previous experience working in a UK school
• – Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

• – Hold Right to Work in the UK
• – Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
