Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant in Bury (BL9). This full-time, temporary position runs until July 2027 with an immediate start. The role supports learners aged 11–18 in a specialist setting focused on building respectful, meaningful relationships and consistent, targeted education.

Candidates must have Right to Work in the UK, safeguarding DBS, and two references. Training and safeguarding checks will be completed by Prospero Teaching as part of registration.

SEN Teaching Assistant

FULL TIME, UNTIL JULY 2027 - STARTING IMMEDIATELY

We are working with a small, specialist setting in Bury (BL9) who are looking to add several teaching assistants to their small yet highly supportive team.

Our school provides a tailored education to young people aged between 11 and 18, who find accessing mainstream education challenging - there will be a high focus on building professional, respectful and meaningful relationships with young people who need consistency and focus in their education.

Despite being a small setting, our Headteacher prides themselves on offering an inclusive learning environment where young people can thrive.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Recent Graduate, with a 2:2 or higher, OR Experience as a TA in a similar setting, OR experience working with young people in a vocational/coaching capacity

- Previous experience working in a UK school

- Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references
