The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant in Blackpool, Lancashire will support pupils across the primary age range within a specialist alternative provision. Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide tailored support on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping children with a wide range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to engage positively with learning.
This SEMH Teaching Assistant role in Blackpool, Lancashire requires someone who can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils whilst maintaining clear boundaries and promoting positive behaviour. You will adapt your approach to meet individual needs, supporting children to develop their confidence, emotional regulation and independence both inside and outside the classroom.
Experience supporting children or adults with autism, associated behavioural difficulties, trauma-informed practice or other additional needs is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, adaptable and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
