Humly London is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in a secondary school in Tulse Hill, South London.

You will de-escalate conflicts, help students refocus on work, and work with teachers and the SEND team to provide consistent support. The role runs Monday to Friday with an ongoing contract and daily pay of £95-£105.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour calmly and sensitively.
  • Understanding of how emotional dysregulation can affect learning.
  • Ability to adapt activities and communicate instructions clearly.
  • Reliability and availability to commit to ongoing work Monday-Friday.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Tulse Hill

Pay: £95-£105 per day

Hours: Monday-Friday

Contract: Ongoing

Humly is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a secondary school in Tulse Hill, South London.

We're looking for a calm, patient and proactive person who can de-escalate conflict, support pupils experiencing emotional dysregulation and help them refocus on their classwork.

The role
  • Support pupils to manage their emotions and engage positively with learning.
  • Use effective de-escalation strategies and clear, consistent boundaries.
  • Adapt learning on the spot using whiteboards, sentence starters, mind maps and other practical strategies.
  • Repeat, simplify and break down classroom instructions so pupils understand what they need to do.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to provide consistent support.
What we're looking for
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
