Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) - Secondary
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £84 - £108 per day (depending on experience)
Start: ASAP
Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) - Secondary:
  1. One-to-One & Group Support: Help SEMH students thrive by providing personalised academic and emotional assistance.
  2. Classroom Collaboration: Work with teachers to deliver inclusive, engaging lessons and tailor learning to meet students' needs.
  3. Progress Monitoring: Track student achievements, identify barriers, and share insights with staff and parents.
  4. Behaviour Guidance: Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to support student behaviour.
  5. Emotional Coaching: Be a trusted presence to help students develop resilience and healthy coping strategies.
  6. Liaison: Work closely with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a consistent support network.
What You Need to be a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) - Secondary:
  1. Qualifications: A background in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Previous work with SEMH students in a school, alternative provision, or care setting.
  3. Skills: Strong communication, empathy, adaptability, and classroom management.
  4. Approach: Calm, nurturing, and solution-focused with a passion for inclusion.
  5. Compliance: A fully enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
