Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in the Crawley area. You will work with pupils with SEMH needs, delivering tailored interventions, and providing consistent behavioural support to help pupils re-engage with learning.

The role offers flexible days and hours, with access to CPD and wellbeing resources. A calm, patient approach and safeguarding commitment are essential, along with Team Teach training where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (essential).
• Team Teach training (preferred).
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused under pressure.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice.
• A passion for helping pupils re-engage with education and develop positive coping strategies.

• Provide SEMH support to pupils in KS1 and KS2 (primarily boys).
• Implement 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and social skills.
• De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display high levels of dysregulation.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an SEHM School . This role involves working closely with students who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored interventions and consistent behavioural support.
