Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic SEND school on a full-time, temporary basis with an immediate start.

The role focuses on supporting children with SEMH and additional needs, inside and outside the classroom. Experience with challenging behaviour, patience, and a willingness to provide personal care are essential. The school provides a nurturing environment, with opportunities for CPD and ongoing support from a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
• Experience managing challenging behaviour in an education or care setting
• A patient, resilient and proactive approach to supporting learning
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A willingness to provide personal care where required
• Team Teach or other relevant behaviour management training is desirable but not essential

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis with an immediate start. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as a range of additional learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom. Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential, and applicants must be willing to provide personal care when required to ensure pupils receive the highest level of support.
