Connex Education Partnership is looking for SEMH Class Teachers to work across specialist SEND schools and alternative education settings in Gloucester and the surrounding areas.

You’ll deliver engaging lessons while taking a whole-child approach, supporting pupils not only academically but also with their relationships, emotional wellbeing, behaviour and independence.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • Experience teaching within primary or secondary education.
  • Experience working with SEMH or SEND pupils is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom practice.
  • Ability to adapt teaching for a range of needs and abilities.
  • A patient, consistent and relationship-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Create a consistent classroom routine and positive learning culture.
  • Build strong professional relationships with pupils.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using de-escalation/restorative approaches.
  • Adapt teaching to individual learning profiles.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.
  • Monitor progress and respond to individual needs.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff.
  • Follow individual learning, behaviour and support plans.

Pay: £150–£250 per day PAYE

About the Role

Connex Education Partnership is looking for SEMH Class Teachers to work across specialist SEND schools and alternative education settings in Gloucester and the surrounding areas.

This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys creating a structured, purposeful and supportive classroom where pupils can rebuild their confidence in education.

You’ll deliver engaging lessons while taking a whole-child approach, supporting pupils not only academically but also with their relationships, emotional wellbeing, behaviour and independence.

The Pupils

You may work with children and young people who have experienced barriers to education, including difficulties with behaviour, emotional regulation, anxiety, relationships or school engagement.

Pupils may present with SEMH, ADHD, autism, trauma and attachment needs, communication difficulties or additional SEND.

Many will benefit from predictable routines, clear expectations and a teacher who can recognise when a pupil needs challenge, encouragement, space or additional support.

  • Confidence managing challenging or distressed behaviour
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Experience in specialist education, alternative provision, nurture settings or pastoral roles would be advantageous.
