Position: SEMH Teacher
Location: Shrewsbury, SEMH Specialist School
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £130 - £180 per day

Our school caters to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a safe and supportive environment where students with challenging behaviour can thrive. We offer an adapted, engaging curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of our students, encouraging personal growth, resilience, and positive outcomes.

The Role:

As a teacher in our SEMH school, you will play a vital role in supporting students who exhibit a range of behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. This is a challenging but incredibly rewarding role that requires:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or difficulties in mainstream education.
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that support both academic and emotional development.
  • Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals, teaching assistants, and external agencies, to provide tailored support.
  • Implementing strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, fostering a safe and respectful learning environment.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students who have SEMH needs, or in a similar setting.
  • A positive, resilient attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A deep understanding of the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on behaviour and learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for helping students succeed both academically and personally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
