Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with an Alternative Provision in Leeds to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teacher. The role covers KS3 to KS5, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons, managing challenging behaviours, and supporting students with SEMH needs in a vocational or practical learning environment.

The successful candidate will hold QTS, have experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviours, and may have experience in PRU/SEND settings or delivering vocational subjects.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) explicitly required.
• Experience teaching or supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• Experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU or SEND setting is desirable.
• Experience delivering vocational subjects or practical skills is highly desirable.
• Prevent training or Team Teach training is desirable.
• Excellent classroom management, resilience and a patient, adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for SEMH learners.
• Manage challenging behaviours and create a positive learning environment.
• Support students with SEMH needs and tailor activities to their individual needs.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Alternative Provision based in Leeds, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teacher. The provision supports students across Key Stage 3 / KS3 to Key Stage 5 / KS5 who find mainstream education challenging, providing an alternative learning environment focused on engagement, personal development and building confidence.

The provision is looking to take on an enthusiastic SEMH Teacher on a short-term or long-term basis, depending on availability. The successful SEMH Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons, managing challenging behaviours and supporting students with SEMH needs, with vocational or practical teaching experience being highly desirable.

The successful SEMH Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS
• Experience teaching or supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours
• Experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU or SEND setting is desirable
• Experience delivering vocational subjects or practical skills is highly desirable
• Prevent training or Team Teach training is desirable
• Excellent classroom management, resilience and a patient, adaptable approach
