Job summary

Teaching Personnel Liverpool are recruiting SEMH Support Staff to work across specialist settings in Liverpool, including Alternative Provisions (APs), PRUs and SEMH secondary schools.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary students, build positive relationships, assist with behaviour management and de-escalation, and work with teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs to support individual learning and behaviour plans.

Qualifications

SEMH Support Staff - Alternative Provision & Specialist Settings

Location: Liverpool
Pay: £95 - £110 per day
Hours: 6.5-hour school day
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel Liverpool are currently recruiting SEMH Support Staff to work across a range of specialist education settings throughout Liverpool, including Alternative Provisions (APs), Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), and SEMH-focused secondary schools.

We are seeking confident, resilient, and proactive individuals who can build positive relationships with young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. These roles are full-time and long-term, offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable students.

About the Role

Students within these settings often present with a range of additional needs, including SEMH difficulties, ADHD, Autism, trauma-related needs, and challenging behaviour. Many pupils may have experienced barriers to education and require consistent support to re-engage with learning.

As an SEMH Support Worker, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs.
• Possess strong behaviour management skills and confidence in responding to challenging situations.
• Remain calm, patient, and professional under pressure.
• Be resilient and able to establish clear boundaries and expectations.
• Have experience in education, youth work, support work, care, coaching, mentoring, or similar roles.
• Be passionate about helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
