Job summary

Reed is seeking a Project Worker / SEMH Support Practitioner in Wyethnshawe for a 28-hour week temporary placement within the Base 12 team. You will provide pastoral, emotional, and behavioural support to learners aged 16-25 with SEMH and EHCPs, helping them build confidence, resilience and employability.

Working with teaching staff and the Pastoral & Wellbeing Coordinator, you’ll support learners inside and outside the classroom and assist their progression to further education, training or

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people aged 16-25 in education, youth work, mentoring, support, or SEND environments.
• Knowledge of SEMH, SEND, EHCPs and barriers to learning.
• Ability to build rapport with diverse young people.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour using positive/restorative approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral, emotional, and behavioural support to learners with SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Build positive relationships with learners as a trusted mentor and role model.
• Support learners to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and social skills.
• Encourage learner engagement, attendance, participation, and positive behaviour.
• Deliver pre-planned group tutorials and personal development sessions.
• Support learners during vocational, enrichment, and employability activities.
• Assist learners in working towards academic, personal, and progression targets.
• Liaise with teaching staff, support services, parents/carers, and external agencies as required.
