Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to support Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils in an Alternative Provision setting in Birmingham. You will work alongside experienced teachers to deliver 1-2-1 and whole-class support, helping learners re-engage with education.

Applicants should have patience, strong communication and behaviour management abilities, with prior experience as a teaching assistant or behaviour mentor. A lasting role and career development are offered.

Qualifications

• Patience and resilience to support SEMH pupils.
• Strong communication with students, teachers and families.
• Experience as teaching assistant or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1-2-1 and whole-class support for Key Stage 4 students with SEMH needs
• Tailoring your approach to meet individual learning and behavioural needs
• Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
• Supporting teachers to deliver lessons and group activities
• Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and participation
• Helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence
• Supporting students with needs including ADHD, ASC, SEMH and attachment difficulties
• Fostering a positive, structured and supportive learning environment
