Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a passionate Qualified SEMH Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. You will teach secondary pupils with SEMH needs, delivering engaging lessons and creating a positive classroom environment that supports learning and resilience.

The role covers KS3 to KS4, using trauma‑informed and relationship‑based approaches, applying effective behaviour management, and working with teaching assistants and pastoral teams to monitor progress

Qualifications

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching secondary pupils.
Experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.
Ability to manage challenging class situations.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
Able to adapt teaching to engage pupils in mainstream education.
Patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people.
Experience in SEMH school or specialist setting preferred; ECTs welcome.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapting the curriculum.
Teach and support pupils with SEMH needs.
Create a structured, safe and supportive learning environment.
Use behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
Apply trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to teaching.
Adapt lessons and resources for different abilities and learning needs.
Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence and resilience.
Work with teaching assistants and pastoral teams to provide consistent support.
