Job summary

Cover People, Manchester, is hiring a Pastoral Support Assistant for a specialist secondary SEMH school in Tameside. You will work with small groups of pupils, supporting behaviour, wellbeing and engagement while enabling access to practical, vocational learning.

The role offers a competitive daily rate (£100–£120) DOE, with start ASAP and potential for temp-to-perm for the right person. A supportive team and ongoing training are provided.

The Role

Are you a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Worker or Youth Worker who knows how to connect with young people who find mainstream education challenging?

Cover People are recruiting a Pastoral Support Assistant for a specialist secondary SEMH school in Tameside.

You'll work with small groups of pupils, supporting their behaviour, wellbeing and engagement while helping them access a practical, vocational curriculum.

The school has a strong focus on intervention, rewards and enrichment, giving pupils opportunities to build confidence, develop life skills and experience success.

There is also genuine temp-to-perm potential for the right person.

What You’ll Do

• Build strong, positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils.


• Provide pastoral, emotional and behavioural support.


• Support small groups and individual pupils.


• Help deliver interventions, activities and enrichment.
